Weronika Tomiak

Weronika Tomiak to stypendystka Stowarzyszenia Absolwentów Uniwersytetów Brytyjskich (BAS) na lata 2017-2019 w Langley School. Jest autorką artykułów biograficznych o zasłużonych polskich naukowcach dla strony greatpoles.pl. Lubi wzajemne przenikanie się przedmiotów ścisłych oraz ludzkie aspekty nauki, stąd też w przyszłości planuje zostać lekarzem.
Weronika jest wolontariuszką Stowarzyszenia „Nowy Ostrów” w szpitalu im. Tytusa Chałubińskiego w Ostrowie Wielkopolskim oraz uczy i mentoruje młodszych uczniów w obrębie nauk ścisłych. Osiągnęła Gold Youth STEMM Award oraz pracuje nad zdobyciem Złotej Nagrody Księcia Edynburga. Weronika odbyła dwutygodniowy staż w firmie Warsaw Genomics w Centrum Nowych Technologii Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Uczestniczyła w wielu konferencjach naukowych oraz szkołach letnich, takich jak Medical Humanities Summer School na Uniwersytecie Oksfordzkim, Medical Residential na Selwyn College, Uniwersytet w Cambridge czy Oncology, Pharmacology and Gastroenterology summer school zorganizowanej przez Debate Chamber w Londynie.
Będąc pasjonatką debat i upowszechniania nauki, Weronika zgadza się z wartościami wyrażonymi w mowie Charliego Chaplina z filmu „Dyktator”.

Weronika Tomiak has been a scholar on behalf of the British Alumni Society (BAS) between 2017 and 2019 placed at Langley School. She is the author of biographical articles reviewing distinguished Polish scientists and medics for the website: greatpoles.pl. Weronika enjoys exploring cross-curricular links within science subjects alongside the human aspects of science and wants to study to be a doctor.
Weronika is a patient support volunteer of “Nowy Ostrów” Society at Titus Chalubinski Hospital in Ostrow Wielkopolski and teaches and mentors younger students seeking to improve their science knowledge. She gained the Gold Youth STEMM Award and is currently working to achieve her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Weronika worked for two weeks at the Warsaw Genomics start-up company at the Centre of New Technologies of the University of Warsaw. She has attended many scientific conferences and summer schools, including the Medical Humanities Summer School at the University of Oxford, the Medical Residential at Selwyn College, University of Cambridge and the Oncology, Pharmacology and Gastroenterology summer school organised by the Debate Chamber in London.
Passionate about debates and science communication, Weronika supports the sentiments expressed in Charlie Chaplin’s speech from “The Great Dictator”.
